Portrait of Sanjay, Dan Smith, 2016.
Sanjay is the head pattern master at MSA Ethos and lives with his best friend and wife, Varsha, and their three-year-old daughter, Angel, who really loves to chat with everyone. Sanjay is a staunch family man, often becoming the household handyman after work hours. He’s also very close to his parents and brother’s family, often utilizing his income to support them and their lives in the villages. Although Sanjay is not formally educated, his impeccable memory and opportunity to work at MSA Ethos allows him to be experimental with his work. He takes every opportunity to learn new patterns and constructions. When asked if he desired superpower, he says he doesn’t want anything for himself, but rather “ask[s] for strength and positive energy for people who struggle physically and mentally in ways [he] cannot imagine.”
